So They Wanted it

Alright, SO there is this newspaper I wont say thier name, but "This Paper", had a deal with me to post my last series " More Than" and a different poem would be featured from this series every month. So Now that we have a black Prez, they want a Special " BLACK HISTORY MAKING MONTH" Poem,

Personally I feel great that we have a black prez, but as a Poet im not going to write about it. first off I thought how typical it would look, then i thought about how many rappers I'm going see with a music video about it...needless to say- " This is the REALEST shit i never wrote" and glad that I didnt.

However I did write a poem when Obama was running... and I offered them a deal, post this poem. In return, I will give them another series. ( I think im slick) , But , needless to say I was VERY surprised that they agree'd to take this poem...and a complete different series, which may force them to either extend the contract, or just make every issue hold two poems...Which I dont want b/c now it looks like im Jocking 'em. Im not sure if this is the poem they wanted but... u read and decide for yourself...

Are We Still Sick?

Are we still sick massa
Not we, but you
Cause if you is, then we is needin’ a tissue
As a slave , we was caught
Some died as we fought
as ya'll taught the rest
There was no home if we left
Just illiterate stress
And thoughts that weren't worth thinking
mammie and uncle tom stayed
As bucks got tough
coons wanted to get paid
And pickinies gave birth to mutts
So they wouldn’t have to slave
Light skin house niggers, to this very day,
Jealous of the rape, a division was made

Are we sick massa?

After getting ya kicks
whipped & stung
we ran, some hung
Trees wore blood diamonds
And black gold
Like a cool noose necklace piece
Not of Jesus, just a nephew, niece
Profit capital of people ownership
Now you do it without the whip

Are we still sick massa?

Cater to your ever need
chicken noodle soup
Or nigga smoking some weed
Envision dangerous killas on tv
Pimpin baskets of biscuit bitches
For crackers to give um cheese
And rat city is BET
So we get played
Now you want to own ya massa's slaves
Massacre the masses for massa’s sake
Because Hov gets played
Owners don't have photo shoots on display
of themselves but of their maids
To distract a large audience
Of who's the target

Are we still sick massa?

For trying to fix it
Like King, Panthers, X, Assata, Pac, and Gong Rasta, or am I wrong for
reminiscing’
While we in another depression
My bad, it’s a recession
Tell me, how did you brain wash us
To make us care so much
About faces instead of our placement
What more could we do
Cause when you’re sick ,
We ask if we sick too
So are we,
still sick,
massa?

_______________________________________But wait
In addition to that, This Paper also has allowed permission once more
to have use of the N- Word...

Now with asking for a Pro/Post Election type of Poem , Plus Having the First Black Prez...
WHY oh Why now feel its okay to say the "N-Word"... please dont make me feel like its okay now

B/c I just got Laid-off and surprisingly they got rid of most of the black men out the office..
So dont tell me its now convenient not only to corporate america but Public Media as well
Nigga Please!!!!!!. oops.. But they wanted it so i guess we, on the receiving end will just have to deal with it

I would say they only person now i can really trust to not change up and be fair ...is GOD.... but even God Plays Favorites... yes, he has his top 8's and best believe Jews are still up they're...

In short, I dont think its right too now use N-word in Newspapers, no matter who your audience....unless its comedy ( B/c then I can say YOU can't be Serious- Perfect Example ; Dave Chapelle, Boondocks, Katt Williams, Paul Mooney) b/c even though its a joke you are stimulating food for thought which you can exercise seriously on your time, with rational, conviction and purpose. unlike my old job... which as luck would have it , they would have to down size... ( imma leave it there)

So as a young black male, college student, living on my own, and performer in NYC... my life could go in a number of ways... but Unlike Charles Hamilton .. I won't make a Beef about it ( tisk tisk chuck....and with Soulja Boy....Why?) But at the end of the day I will try to find a purpose out of this and make myself better for the Future and write history, instead of living for the present ( stfw if only live once )

All that matter is defining a definition of Life that defines you...or get stuck like a synonym if whats how u want it

Peace

We're growing up....Anything is Possible

I rememeber back in 06 when I just came back home from chillin upstate in ROCK HILL for my summer. Young and cocky DK aka InFo da Poet had just gotten the biggest high after doing 4 big shows, had a "BEST Week Ever" Video ( in which I flew a plane, went courtside and skybox at a Knicks game, etc) and just hooked up with my 1st college girl... i took it all in. I had finally gotten a chance to have my cake and eat it too...but humble pie and cake dont mix... and I met many people along the way. I say that b/c recently I noticed acouple of aquaintances on the Cover of a few magizines and Print ads. like Patty Dukes, Shanelle Gabriel and the most recent Charles Hamiltion.

Now being where I am at right now....this is farther than I ever would of thought writing Poetry would take me... but I remeber that in 07... Kesed and I went down to Harlem after some other event to go support and maybe even perform with Charles for this RAP-a-thon in the Magic Johnson Theater...(can't remember the section but it was the 2nd floor) but it was sponser'd by Hot 97 and Converse... Now Im a poet and i never knew much about charles or any body else from the city b/c i was a uptown kid... so even to be recognized is a blessing , when so many artist around here grew up with each other or went to skool/slams together. and I believe when we got there it was last 12 hours of the Rap-a-thon , b/c it was 24 hrs and had started the previous day .... and it turns out charles has been spitting everything he kne, and anything he could til we had gotten there...and i have to say...that was the last i ever saw of him music wise... ( although we use to chill in the past thru mutual friends )... and then I turned around one day and saw him on the cover of..XXL....ROFL.... now as a Poet i have met many hot poets and rappers but the line between them was very clear.... charles was never a poet put he did rap here and there with a few other ppl i kne. so I WAS BLOWN away when i saw, my peer on the Paper... and I got so happy for him... but thats as far as it went...i then asked around b.c i was in shock... I hit up acouple of my DJ pplz @ WccR radio and DJ Blanco Nino told me " He is a ok rapper, but he put out this Sick sega/sonic mixtape and it was dopeness..." so now im feeling played bc I do know charles is a hustla and goes hard but i trust that he did earn it.... and i never payed attention to the other ppl on the cover....( Wale, B.o.B, charles, and Asher Roth)...Pause!.... who is this white... I was hella busy with school to look him up but i did do it.... and Asher Roth...is SICK...This Kid right here got it....and its Poetical, Politically and Original... so if he is dope and on the cover....charles gotta be on the same lv as him...( bad fam trait we make needless comparisons) But I threw charles name in the Youtube and I started playing my boy...
and thought " I cant believe we coming up" he is No ASHER.... he is Charles Hamilton...and i have to say ppl got on me when i 1st got on the poerty scene for being a funny poet but... Charles is funny.. on the mix online he has a track called Lacey Duvalle... <>> ROFL b/c next i see the music video..... ROFL agian its like im playing slots and the next 7 is his MUSIC vid called " brooklyn girls" and it had Lacey in It.... 3rd 7 and Im Like Jackpot.... ANYTHING is Possible.... and if you reading this Charles... , " Congrats and Im so fuCkIng proud". its like you see ppl make it big...or u see ppl make that one hit and the spotlight tears um up and spit them out... Hip-Hop isnt only for rappers...its a culture and its so good to know that the people still have control of it... Im a poet, so I know that a music video wouldnt b needed for what i do... but everything you do counts and its very encouraging to know its real people that dont need IDOL to catch a break, dont give up what ever your dream is....b/c alot of ppl make it and tell you how they struggled and wont give to shits to make your struggle alil easier or even tell you that u can do it... b/c he isnt even 21 yet and he got his foot in the door... So good luck with whatever it is that you wanna do, perfect your skill, respect your talent, and always have a good word...

I learned alottoday,... even came to blogspot...I know i'm late but it looks like we are growing up in different ways...

Define yourself
